Mental Health Counselor (With an Adventurous Spirit)
Overview:
SailFuture provides dependency case management services to high-risk teenagers in Pinellas County. We meet our teens where they are at and guide them through the foster care system with a deep compassion and thoughtful and consistent approach to parenting and conflict management.
The Mental Health Counselor provides individual therapy to 25 high-risk teenagers in foster care in Pinellas County. In addition to individual therapy, the LMHC provides support and guidance to caregivers and a team of 10 behavior specialists to ensure that targeted behavior plans are successfully implemented 24 hours a day / 7 days a week.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting youth in foster care, proven crisis management experience, and an innovative and forward-thinking approach to mental health service delivery.
Core Responsibilities:
○ Ensure that therapeutic services are adventure and/or experience-based
○ Develop and revise targeted behavior plans for all high risk youth
○ Ensure the successful implementation of each youth’s targeted behavior plan
○ Provide support and guidance to 10 Behavior specialists
○ Respond to placement and community crises
○ Provide individual therapy to up to 20 youth
○ Ensure proper documentation of clinical notes
○ Utilize SailFuture’s digital tools, such as Slack and Notion, to ensure effective
collaboration with all stakeholders
○ Provide training to SailFuture staff
○ Provide training and support to our youth’s caregivers and parents
○ Share on call rotation with behavior specialists
○ Other responsibilities as determined by the Clinical Director
Qualifications:
○ RMHCI, LMHC, or LCSW
○ Demonstrated passion and experience providing adventure and/or reality therapy
○ Strong understanding of Florida’s child welfare system
○ Minimum 2 years of clinical experience
Compensation:
● $40,000 - $45,000 depending on experience
